Well we came home to an eviction notice today.

No reason why – just a 60 day notice …lovely.

The day after we pay December rent – you tell us you are evicting us.

So I call the landlord and ask why, and she was all, “Oh it’s not you we just decided to sell the house”. Great. Never mind that when we signed the lease you said you’d give us a few months warning so we could save up for a new place – no, 3 days after we are broken into and a day after we pay rent you say – Merry Christmas, get out.

Gee, nice.

So once again, scrambling to find a new place to live, with NO money saved up for a move or a first and last and security deposit. And with an APBT in tow. Lovely. No this isn’t going to be hard. UGH.

The GOOD news is, we needed to get the hell out of that hellhole anyway – it’s been BRUTALLY cold. We wake up and it is 54 degrees. Not even kidding, wish I was.

The NEXT house will NOT be plaster and it WILL have air conditioning and heat. For the love of God it will.

And maybe this is bad of me …. but I so hope that they don’t get anyone to buy that house. It should be torn down anyway – it’s just not livable. Serve them right to kick us out with no notice like that in December of all months (could have let us know they were thinking about it on Oct or Nov after all), at least they were getting 1000 a month from us.

Now they aren’t going to be getting a dime. Karma can be a bitch so I will just leave it to the universe to even out those scales.

So we came home tonight, to find that someone spent a LOT of time breaking into our house.

Apparently, they drilled through the two deadbolt locks on the front security door, and then tried to drill through the deadbolt on the actual front door, but they screwed that up, and the lock broke and was stuck in an engaged position.

They then decided to HAMMER off the doorknob. Seriously. They HAMMERED off the doorknob. Who *does* that??? And in full view of the street in broad daylight no less??

We know it was a hammer, because they left it on the doorstop in front of the door – and it is now in the possession of the police.

When that didn’t work, they tried to pry out a back window.

Then they finally pulled up a trash can and entered through the kitchen window.

They made a total mess, ruined a bunch of my artwork – including the stuff I was doing for the HotDogger. Which REALLY bummed me out. They didn’t take anything though … that we could see anyway. It’s like they made it as far as seeing Toby’s crate and then bailed.

So either they got out of jail and were looking for previous tenants and realized they werewn;’t here anymore, or they saw Toby;’s crate and got scared, or they were looking for Toby.

Either way, I’m scared shitless of leaving him here now.

Landlord acted like we were at fault when I called them up to have them replace the locks – um, hello? We were at our JOBS like GOOD tenants, earning money for RENT. Sheesh.
