Well, it’s been an incredibly frantic, stressful, and anxiety-filled week of angst and doom.

LOL.

Well it sure felt that way anyway. :P

But we searched far and wide for a new home that would not discriminate against the breed, and I do hope that we’ve found exactly that!

So anyone that might be reading this – wish us luck!!!

Sad to say that I’ve been SO wrapped up in procuring us a place to live that I have not really had much time to settle down and enjoy our boy. The first week should be one full of laughter and licks … and indeed it was exactkly that. But being so stressed and running around and getting very litytle sleep left me wound fairly tightly.

And yet … it is a true testamount at how a canine companian can really ground and center me. Normally my blood pressure would be hrough the roof and the tension would be unbearable.

But seeing that goofy smile and bully wiggle … you can’t help but to revel in the moment with them, and smile back – not just with your face … but with your heart too.

More and more I’m seeing at how *right* this decision was for us – and for me specifically. I have gotten more exercise in this week than I have in the last 2 months combined. That’s pretty sad overall really, but it’s great that I’m getting more active!

Anyway, we added some more pics to his Flickr gallery … I’m way too lazy right now to add them in directly. There are some really awesome photos of him though!!

And do wish us luck for the new place … the landlord said it’s ours, but I don’t consider that fact until a legal document has been signed and dated lol!!

… so I’m taking that to heart and hoping for the best.

We live in an apartment. We’ve lived here for 7 years. When we moved here we had my dog – who we put to sleep some years ago. So it’s been like 3 years since my past dog passed away.

I had asked my landlord about a puppy … at first I was assuming it was cool, but then figured it was smarter and more responsible to ask permission.

Let me say that it has been a very long running joke between us and any of our friends or the neighbors here that the landlord never seems to ever hear what you say, but just agrees as soon as you start getting out the first three words and he’s bobbing his head and saying yes yes yes yes yes and smiling and waving.

Sooo after 7 years … I guess we just took that at face value. Stupid of us I suppose.

So after planning this for like 3 months and everything, we get the little fella last night. Friday morning – like a good responsible owner I tell the landlord, hey BTW … the pup is here.

And he looks me dead in the eye and says “No.”. A little taken aback I said something brilliant and witty like … “Huh?’

And he tells me – with a dead pan face – “No. No dogs. Period. No.”

So I’m floored. After sitting down and hammering this out it seems that my landlord will NOT budge. Doesn’t seem to recall what he said – even weirder when I said “But you said okay” he says nothing … just stares at me.

So the most I got him to budge was that the dog can stay for 2 weeks while we either figure out where we will be moving to, or where to get rid of the dog.

Well … we aren’t getting rid of the dog. Especially since I was doing everything right and everything. About the only good thing about the landlord doing that was that it was NOT breed-related, he to date still has not seen even a hair of the pup, nor did he ever ask.

Well … it’s not the *only* good thing. I mean this thing has to happen for a reason right? Well one can hope lol. So we are hoping that the universe has plans for us, that when a door closes, another door opens, and that we knew we needed to move years ago but never got off our asses to do it … so maybe the universe is simply forcing our hands.

I have an INCREDIBLY awesome job. I can bring my dog to work to me, and he’s already crate trained pretty much. So the pup won’t be freely roaming unless under direct supervision and of going everywhere with us, so that should work in our favor.

But dang it. lol. I’m not someone that gracefully adjust to change – I tend to resist it. We knew and were prepared for the major life and lifestyle changes the pup would bring, but I don’t think even we were prepared for the first day to bring all this on us LOL!

But then maybe we needed this. Maybe since we are doing so many changes the universe said, well what’s one more?

The truth is the apartment we were in was a pithole. We knew we should have left years ago. Any move to any place will be an improvment.

So maybe it’s not bad news, just it’s a roller coaster ride to be sure!

So if you are reading this … please send us a little blessing of good luck and good wishes or maybe send us a prayer or put us in a prayer circle. 2 weeks is not a lot of time. And to find a home that will not only accept a puppy but an APBT bully … well … any help can’t hurt! LOL!

And I’ll be looking at some houses this weekend, so you know … please wish us luck!!! :)

So yes, I know, we didn’t have many updates for a little bit – but never fear, an update is here!

We didn’t get the red fawn male! I know we’d been talking to everyone about how we were going to – but all the good comformation red fawn males wound up getting chosen and the last the breeder felt was pet quality, so she urged us to reconsider either a red fawn female, or the blue fawn male.

So we played with them and played with them, and interestingly enough … the two that were left for us to pick from where the pups that stayed up hours past when the rest of the litter hit the crate.

BOTH pups were amazing. It was REALLY hard to NOT pick the female.

But in the end, the blue fawn boy won us over with his “quiet moments” – moments when in our arms he’d just quiet down sigh softly and snuggle in and watch what was going on.

We have a cat after all, and those quiet moments made us feel that he of the two would be the most likely to not be driven to distraction by the cat.

Plus, I’ll be taking him to work – the ability to sit still during quiet periods and then be a bundle of puppy energy during play times is a HUGE asset.

Soooo we chose him. He has something of an old soul quality to him, honest to god. When we put him down, he was focused on us – we liked that. So late last night, we took our pup home.

And would you know it – the collar we’d brought was way too small, so Ray held him all the way home, and that swee boy just snuggled in and lay in Ray’s arms and bascially slept the whole way!

Then we came home, and played and played and played. And then played some more.

Then he met the cat … and the cat met him. And YAY! Neither freaked out. The cat doesn’t LIKE him yet (LOL!), but he wasn’t scared out of his mind or anything. And the pup – though VERY interested, was VERY easy to distract and redirect, wasn’t hard in the least!

Around 2 am – he crashed, we put him in his crate, and did some computer work for another hour while checking on him, and at first he was awake and looking around … but quiet – YAY! And then, without us … he crashed.

And he SLEPT until like around 6am, where he whined – so we let him outside and he peed and pooped and then we put him back in the crate and he slept until 8:30 am! Talk about a total treasure!!

He had his first vet appointment today which he did AMAZING at! He slept the entire time just about though he did have some moments of trying to eat the papers, LOL.

And today has been wonderful. Playing and he’ll get a bath tonight and teaching him fetch (he figured it out THAT fast! Now if he just retains that! LOL!) and to sit. He often just chills out and watches stuff before puppy mode kicks in. TVs and the fish tank fascinate him. LOL. He is NOT at all sure about that floor fan though, rofl.

But all in all it’s been great having him and he’s been an absolute dream. Hopefully it’s not the hpneymoom [eriod and in two weeks he changes all that (LOL!) but we will see what we will see, right? :)

Anyway – here’s one of the many pics we took of him today and last night:
Our pup! :)

We got the extreme delight of getting to play with the entire litter last night and Ray and I were just simply besides ourselves with glee lol. I swear we are still glowing LOL!

And wow, are 10 APBT puppies in full wiggle mode a handful! I think we were both licked soundly from head to toe as we were game enough to lay down on the ground so we were “their size” LOL! And boy, were we beseiged!! There is NOTHING in this world as pure and joyful as being a part of a large puppy pile and having them tumble all around and over you, I swear.

I would be happy with any puppy in this litter … I swear they are all so alike and each is a wonderful choice. All of them are bright, energetic, curious, interested, as soon as they hear a noise – especially a new noise, they are bounding to the front of their pen and all jostling each other for the best view to see what is making that noise.

NONE of them are fazed in the least by the larger dogs, they aren’t scared or timid, they charge RIGHT up and want to play! And the adults love it, I think we got some GREAT pictures this time of Jazzy playing with her pups, and they are so good with the babies. SO cute to see them all play bowing to each other and spinning and hopping and darting around … such a zest for life …. wow, no wonder we all fall in love with this breed! How can you NOT respond to such a open hearted genuine joy at being alive and in the moment?

It amazes me more and more at how bad the public seems to see all pitbulls as being. It makes me want to step up and do something, to help, to do my part to fight the laws trying to be passed that want to so discriminate against all pitbulls and pitbull mixes based on their breed alone.

But back to last night. :) We should have the pictures up soon, which should be ADORABLE. And we got a LOT. I think we shot around 200 images, lol. So do check back soon as I am sure that we will have some great pics for you to enjoy!!
